Toast in the Morning <3 Mimosa

Mimosa is a 2007 Appendix mare.  She came to SBEC at the end of August.  I will use this page to try and keep you guys updated on her progress :)

11-13 (well actually 12-10)

So I forgot to update from Mimosa’s first horse show!!!  We just did the Adult Beginner Equitation since it is a small 2’ and in the side, less scary, ring!  She did so well for her first show!  I was a littler nervous how she was going to act so the first 2 classes were rough in one or two places but she stayed so nice and calm so I relaxed and out third class was great :)  In our forth o/f class she got a perfect flying changed and was so excited I scratched her neck so forgot to give hr a half halt into the last line so it was a little long out and she knocked the rail (200% my fault!!)  Then for the flat class there were 8 in the division in the small ring no splitting so she was frazzled but what 5 yr old wouldnt be!  Out of the 8 we were 3rd 3rd 5th and 5th :)  I was so happy!!

10-25

So I havent updated in a while so heres where the mare is at :)  Last friday I rode her in her first lesson in out main arena with the big scary jumps! lol  It definitely wasnt perfect but wow was she so good for her first lesson up there!!  Not a single thought to the road or anything :)  She also jumped her first over 2’ fences :) Pics below!  I then had a lesson on her this morning (back in the side arena) and she just amazes me how far she has come in 2 months!!  She picks up that right lead like it is nothing now!  Her transitions are so much smoother and she is so relaxed!  And she is getting this whole on the bit and moving from behind thing which is so nice!  She frames up so easily now and looks for your contact!  We jumped around a little and even had her jump her first oxar today!  Tiny but hey still an oxar!  We have baby girls first show in a few weeks :)

10-4

Well we have had better days….She is being put into some beginner lessons since she is so calm and level headed.  Well its really fucking up her training, but im not her owner :(  So huge steps back in her flat work, fighting for 10 minutes to get her on the bit and her right lead is gone again…. But I took her over some of the scarier jumps and she popped right over all of them!  Hugh but no refusals!

9-28

First real lesson on Mimosa :) She was so good!  Amazing on the flat except her right lead which of course in front of others she wouldnt pick up!  and well we are learning bout jumping lol

9-20

Finally got a short video of me riding Mimosa!

We were trying to work on bending by staying in the indoor since it is a bit tighter.  She is starting to use and bend but still falling in a bit….oh well more to work on!

End of August-

Pictures from the beginning :) When we started she moved around like a giraffe and didnt know how to pick up her right lead.

Just three weeks later she is starting to relax her neck and now picks up the right lead like nothing :)
